FEM-Calculation of pressure frame

We develop our thermowave plate heat exchangers to meet our customer’s needs and to comply with their special requirements. That’s our challenge! In order to optimize the pressure frame, we use the Finite Element Method (FEM) during the iterative development process.

The pressure frame has to withstand the forces resulting from the superposition of the system pressure and the compression of the plate pack. The thickness of the frame plates and the positions of the tie rods influence the overall stiffness of the frame.

FEM simulations are used repeatedly to check the tension and the deformation of the pressure frame. This iterative development process leads to a well suited geometry for every frame type.
